Developmental and line editing – fiction

The developmental editing service will help you to elevate your characters, chapter structure and story arcs to create works that enter your readers’ hearts and compel them to keep turning one page after another.

Developmental editing includes two passes, with author feedback after the first pass. I will give you suggestions on character development, chapter structure, story arcs, plot consistency and plausibility, delivered in a way that is respectful of your creative vision and the world you have brought to life. This service also includes in-text developmental notes, in-text line editing and a stand-alone editorial summary with my developmental suggestions and recommendations for your next steps.

The line editing service ensures your sentence structure, spelling, grammar and punctuation puts a smile on your publisher’s face. Your line edit will be delivered as in-text changes and comments within your manuscript, giving you complete control over the final changes.

Technical manuals and educational materials require an editing service that checks for consistency, logical flow, ease of use (user experience or UX) and maximum information retention. As a skilled verbal and visual communicator and UX specialist, I can make suggestions to help you communicate concepts and relationships clearly and succinctly, helping your readers to grasp and retain key concepts.

I will make suggestions on the overall structure of your materials to ensure information is presented in a logical order, as well as suggestions for presenting concepts graphically to maximise understanding and recall. I can also help you create clear tables of contents, indices and page elements so your readers can recall information quickly and easily for years to come.

I can also edit other educational resources such as slide shows or handouts to make them engaging, clear, polished and highly professional, and can even create an interactive, dynamic presentation that will make your presentation unforgettable.

Ghostwriting

Proofreading

Give your work the final once-over to ensure every word is ship-shape and tickety-boo.

Once we agree on services and a timeframe, the contract is issued outlining the scope of work. A 50% deposit (based on the initial word count) is payable before work commences, with the balance payable on completion of the agreed work.

A cancellation fee of 50% of the projected word length will be payable if a booking is cancelled within 30 days of the agreed start date.

If your manuscript is not received by the agreed date, I will make every effort to complete your project within the agreed time frame, but priority will be given to on-time clients. A fee of $5.50 per 1,000 words will be applied as a Rush Fee in addition to the fees listed above.
